I have about 20 GB in the cloud and far less use on my laptop and mobile systems. What is your computing model?

We've seen the attenuation of demand for CPU performance which has made upgrade cycles for PCs much longer. I used to replace PCs fairly often. I just replaced my 2008 MacBook Pro with a 2014 MacBook Pro. My 2008 model has over 1 GB of storage. My new one has less than half that.

Does your typical laptop ship with a 512 GB SSD, 1 TB SSD, 2 TB SSD? Why not?

It's not narrow thinking - it's the reason why PC chips have been getting cheaper, more energy-efficient and more powerful for years.

I'm currently using a 2008 i7 Desktop at home though my new laptop has comparable performance. I also use the old 2008 MacBook Pro as a desktop at home as well hooking it up to a KVM. The last time I bought a desktop was in the Sandy Bridge era and it seemed like most of the board was buying Core i5 chips; not Core i7 chips. Why? No need for the compute horsepower.

I have a Core i7 in my new laptop but that wasn't an option. I would have gone for whatever the low-end CPU option was.
