response to products is immediately visible in the sales numbers for the quarter they are introduced, and then follows a pattern for each quarter thereafter. Most products receive refreshes on roughly a 9 month revolving basis and a full new model introduction every 3-4 years.

if you are trying to assess the response to a new model introduction, there is no point in going 5 quarters out. especially if it's the response to that model that you are trying to establish a cause-effect relationship, uninfluenced by things like general economic conditions, and basic underlying business growth.
