ARNAUDVILLE, La. (AP) — Beau Chene (SHEN) High School has suspended at least 45 students as part of an investigation into a student who changed grades during the last six weeks through a web-based computer program.
Principal Keith James tells The Advertiser (http://bit.ly/1xyfhMA) the student gained access to a program called Powerschool by obtaining a teacher's password and was able to change grades for several students.
James added that the student would sometime charge money to change other students' grades, but would also change them as favors. One student at the school said some of those favors were sexual in nature.
Some students did not know that their grades had been changed, the principal said, but the ones who knew that their grades were changed were suspended for not notifying teachers or administrators.
The student who was changing grades for others did so "for his own reasons," the principal said.
