Is the U.S. Running Out of Crude Oil Storage? No, despite the popular narrative that we keep hearing, the U.S is not running out of crude oil storage. But it doesn't end there. The author of that piece states the capacity at Cushing as 70M barrels. Turns out even that number appears to be less than the actual capacity. In Sept 2014 the EIA stated it's actually just shy of 85M barrels. Kind of makes you wonder when even the EIA is involved in the hype about running out of storage space, doesn't it?
