Who in their right mind would buy this device?

With a whopping 32g SSD Hard Disk.

Usage model for Chrome OS is predominately Cloud based. Large storage isn't required,

There is absolutely no "cost" basis for this $999 price. So why is this priced so high? Simply because it is positioned as a premium product...!

Obviously, Google is not interested in volumes and just wants to skim the cream. Looks like Apple strategy to me.

It would be ok if it had decent local storage and Chrome OS would mature to a full OS replacement. Obviously, Google doesn't get it or they want to force their customer towards something they don't want. This is always a losing strategy, like an ugly 600$ watch from Apple which isn't even waterproof and lasts one day - ridiculous and a guaranteed flop.

Honestly, I also don't like what Google does with Android. Their software skills are pretty crappy in my opinion. Similar lack of vision as Microsoft, full of bugs and bad concepts. Google doesn't impress me at all with what they do recently on Android and also Chrome OS. Pretty lackluster.

Regarding the Intel guidance warning: I guess that can be justified with the strong dollar pretty easily, together with some weak demand before the Windows 10 release. Who would buy a Windows 8 device right now, this most hated OS in the world? Windows 10 will be very important for Intel, so let's have a close look at it when it comes. If it looks good, It's time to buy more Intel.
