Baxter restructured their business (something like that) and realized they didn't want to go that healthy beverage route and focus on their core business. From my understanding there was some one developing the formulations at Baxter that used to work with Clearly Canadian, and the guys as Pulse (can't recall which guy, maybe Bruce?) found out about it and through their past relationship stayed networked and that relationship is how they came to find it and work out a deal. Pulse Heart & Body Health is why the company is named Pulse I believe. Needed products in the mean time (niche beverage markets coconut water, limeades and lemonades) as they've spent about 3 years working on the further development on Pulse heart and body. Since they're going after healthy drinks they want to make sure all claims made are true so no problems arise such as the current law suits against Coke for Vitamin water.
