It would be a very good win. However I am a bit suspicious of any leaks relating to Apple - they have very good security and try out all sorts of ideas and I can't see Intel blabbing either.

It would be good in that way, that Apple will help Intel in terms of quality, since they are a very demanding customer. This way, Intel's modem can reach the same level as Qualcomm, not just in terms of features or speed but in connection quality, which is more important in my opinion.

There are many rumors coming from Apple that actually hold true. There were pretty accurate leaks about the iPhone 6 and the new Macbook for instance. It also makes much sense for Apple since they can put pricing pressure on Qualcomm. They need to give some of their money to the competition at times so they keep their pricing pressure. Since Apple needs a discrete modem anyway (since they have their own application processors), this rumor makes a lot of sense.

Intel could sell a nice package to Apple in the future. 10nm process with integrated modem and Apple's processor IP, something Qualcomm can't offer. Apple could increase pressure on Qualcomm and Samsung this way.
