Yes, every company in the US has had problems with
counterfeit parts or materials whether they realized that as the problem or not.

Years ago fake capacitors showed up in 'everything'.
Bad mixed in with the good so it was harder to find.
Then a higher percentage of end products had higher failures down the road.
Thats when the electronic manufacturers started re-checking the quality of caps.
They lasted a year or two then went bad.
Sometimes the China companies are also unknowing victims from other chinese companies.
Thats how big the problem is.
With all the quality controls in place yet all the companies had cap problems
and we didn't learn anything from that.
