The issues actually sound a little close...give the timing as well. This only started about a month ago...at the same time I updated to OS8 on my iphone so I assumed that was it. But I wonder...although I am not using an "app" just the mobile version of the ihub website.

When I go to "hold" a word to then expand the start and end as you describe...most times nothing happens. When it does the moment I let go to expand the capture it disappears with not ability to "cut" or "copy". And then even when I can capture, it is a crap shoot at to whether it will let me expand to specific words on the front or back or just grab whole paragraphs.

The same sort of thing happens when I go to paste...I try to hold the cursor on the spot I want to paste to and normally when I let go I can select the "Paste" function, but mostly the options just disappear. It can take 5 or 6 times before the "options" stay to select from.
