I am sure many of you have read the recent positive S.A. article by Shareholders Unite. Don't know how many read the comments that follow. So far there has been 139 comments. Most of them are driven by a poster who uses the I.D. of techstocksfordummies and is probably the most active Sphere basher in existence, posting on about every Sphere message board and using a variety of I.D.'s. Anyway, his usual technique is to ignore anything good about Sphere, imply all kinds of (unproven) bad things about Sphere and try to divert the conversation to irrelevant things. Below is one of my responses to him. I am bringing it over here only because silverline requested I do so.

If there was a prize for who can give responses to messages by going most off-topic, you would win hands down.

My message was NOT about Apple not being a big company and selling a lot of computers. They are and they do.

My message was NOT about Google NEEDING GlassWare to sell Chromebooks. They don't. And I never said that Sphere sells Chromebooks and that Google sells GlassWare. They don't and they don't.

OK, now that we have gone through all your irrelevant diversionary blather, here is what it is all about.

Companies sell cars. Other companies sell gas. People buy cars & gas. Another company comes along and creates an additive to add to the gas that goes in those peoples cars and the people find out that by using it they get 10 miles per gallon more. That saves the people a lot of money, so many people buy the product. Do all of the people buy the product? No. But it is a very large market and this small company sells enough to make a lot of money and their share price increases many fold.

Now as usual there are detractors. Some might be competitors who sell other additives. Some might just (for personal reasons) have a grudge against the company. Some might have shorted the companies stock because they thought it would fail. So these people start attacking the company & its product. They say the product really doesn't do what the company claims. But since it does, there are no auto experts willing to back up this claim and there are several experts who do say the product is great. So then they start bashing the company because it is small. They say it can't compete with the big companies. But many small companies with good & different products are able to succeed and become pretty big themselves. That's what competition & capitalism is all about.

So, is Sphere going to drive Apple out of business? NO. Is every school district going to buy Chromebooks? NO. Are all the ones who buy Chromebooks going to buy GlassWare? NO. BUT, this is a large market and just getting a portion of it can be huge for a small company.

Then of course this is just one potential source of revenues for Sphere. They are playing in the cloud computing, virtualization, and storage markets. Those are monster markets & growing. Just getting a very small market share can provide Sphere with revenues making the company worth many, many multiples from the current share price. It can be a real wealth builder for those who get in early. And it is something that can happen very fast. Announcement of one or more sizeable GlassWare sales could cause an almost immediate double or triple. And then it's off to the races. You place your bet, you take your chances."
