That caught my attention as well with it being the last trading day of the month. I do not know for sure, but it makes one wonder how short this group really is. After the 2008 meltdown, I would not be surprised if the short position is much larger than many of us including the SEC and Finra really know. The Fidelity situation where they are approaching clients to pay %20 plus to borrow is supportive of this possibility. I don't think this group takes a 3 day weekend as it is not in their DNA. Cornered may be the appropriate word to describe them along with tired and running out of ammo. Going to be interesting to say the least. IMO
