you are wrong.
in an inpatient setting----there is little concern for crushing and snorting thus this kind of medication will seldom be used.
mostly patients abuse opioids by askig for larger doses with increased frequency. later with increased abuse they deviate from morphine to oxycodone, hydrocodone and eventually to dilaudid (gives a much better high).
in the outpatient setting.
patients come to physician asking for pain meds. Sometimes its diffiult to figure out who is truly in need of pain meds. Pateints fill a script mostly for oral intake. a smaller group fill oxycontin scripts to sell at 40$ a pill to crush and snort.

Doctors without question will prefer to given AR meds to at least prohibit the blatant abuse of crushing and snorting.
