Average price of shrimp in 2014 was $11,278 per metric ton in 2014, down 8.8% year-on-year, according to Camposol's financial results.

Interesting article, although the company is located in Peru it does provide some insight into the shrimp industry.

Peruvian agriculture firm Camposol expects 10-15% higher volumes from shrimp in 2015, after acquiring two of the country's largest shrimp farms in 2014.

Camposol has become the largest shrimp producer and exporter in Peru with almost 3,000 metric tons sold last year. It has now 1,300 hectares and three processing plants, following the acquisition of INY SA and Pesquera ABC in November last year.

...Despite of the price drop, the company's shrimp business has had "excelent returns" in 2014, with a gross margin of 28%, on the back of "the favorable market price trend," the company said.

Camposol's shrimp is sold mostly to Asian countries, representing to the company an "excellent opportunity" for capturing demand from other countries, the Peruvian firm said.
