Annie - a second endorsement

for CambridgeSoundworks. However, if you can manage the extra $30 bucks to move up from the entry-level tomm referred to, and get this model instead, you'll be very pleased you did.

Also, you're one of the lucky ones that has a physical retail store nearby -- on Van Ness. So you can touch, feel, and demo for yourself.

FWIW, these models were designed by the legendary Henry Kloss -- whom you probably know for his loudspeaker designs at KLH and Advent (he founded both companies). He also whipped together the prototype for Dolby-A, which he handed off to Thomas Dolby as encouragement and a nudge to push him (which he did, with great impact) - who worked for him at the time. Although better marketed (and better known), the popular Bose Wave Radio is really a copy of his (superior and better value) table radios. Demo a Cambridge Soundworks Model 88 next to one of the Bose Wave Radios and the difference is obvious.
