The gay television company known as here! Networks announced Wednesday that it has acquired Hyperion Interactive Media, an aggregator of Web properties targeted to the LGBT community.
Hyperion Interactive, also known as the H.I.M. Corp., is the parent for such sites as GayWired.com, GayMonkey.com, LesbiaNation.com and GaySports.com, among others. The company also owns a print magazine, GayWebMonkey.
The acquired group will be called here! Interactive Media and will be the "online bridge" by which here! hopes to expand its reach beyond TV viewership.
"The acquisition connects H.I.M. Corp's proven gay and lesbian marketing platform with here!'s growing audience of viewers," said Mark Reinhart, executive vice president of here! Networks. "It also addresses our marketing goals of targeting the LGBT consumer with Web-based marketing and sponsorship programs."
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Matt Skallerud, founder of the H.I.M. Corp., will continue to manage the Web properties and their staffs, here! Networks said.
Established in 2002, here! is available across the United States via satellite as well as a subscription video-on-demand service with a number of cable TV providers.
