I'm a math guy. I appreciate patterns. I'm even doing graduate research in the area.

Trying to find patterns in these charts are like BF Skinner's pigeons. BF Skinner starts to randomly reward the pigeons with food, and the pigeons start doing random twitches in the belief that their twitches are the cause of the food coming down the slot. They believe they have found a pattern, while BF Skinner is laughing at their body contortions.

Same reason why people follow organized religion.
