I have to agree Kezzek, that this is an excellent question.

My answer would be that the Lettses feel that THEY were the ones who discovered this opportunity and deserve to be compensated, as opposed to the shareholders of Volcan. In other words, the Lettses feel that they will make more profit as middle men in future transactions than they would if they had simply placed ownership of the contracts in the name of Volcan up front.

Another angle could be that Volcan is more in the business of mining PROVEN resources as opposed to exploration from zero?
