There is an ongoing struggle.
I doubt the Canadian dollar will pull even with the US dollar, though anything is possible at this rate. On a broader note, economies change, go through phases, up and down. I do not believe that the United States economy is as bad as it could be.. time will tell.
With China, EU, India even Canada stepping up to the plate with stronger economic forces, the US is expected to lose a few steps. I am always arguing with my father who complains about the gas prices (which with inflation should be over $5). He is upset that China is developing, thus in effect, hurting the United States (sort of). I tell him.. you would rather 300 million people on the China coast to suffer just so you can drive with $1.50/gas??
I know it is a sloppy arguement. Though there is a level of truth to it. I am glad to see countries around the world develop, even if it hurts the US. I would also LOVE to see that new tax break that the Republicans are proposing. Capital gains, which we all feel here in the trading community will directly benefit.
