With regard to controlling the action here, I will say it appeared as though there were two primary MMs on the bid and two on the ask. They were not your stinky pinky diluters or retail MMs buying and selling.

That said, you might be into se thing to suggest there may be a plan to take it higher in order to sell shares. Isn't that the history here?

With regard to front-loading, volume wasn't out of the ordinary over the past couple weeks. Today was 'out of the ordinary' and was on no news. Guess time will tell, but in the short-term, looks like a new leg up about to begin.
