Sales Driver-- make an ETD unit that does NOT need an idiotic swab, make it light, build it to the highest resolution possible, utilize a collection process that does not miss and develop a protocol of use-- show that to TSA...boom, sales bonanza. Every state police dept. in the USA is a buyer of that product. State police depts still use the weak-lame S-M handheld units but I can't say any of them would provide a + testimonial.
Right now, the swab mode is pathetic. Truely pathetic. Really, TSA needs to be awoken to what can happen for them if they continue to rely on swabbing. And the cargo world- OMG, what a freaking mess that is. Worse, the private sector doesn't give a hoot. They are so dam thick, they think they have NO responsibility to inspect the cargo/pkgs they sling for profit.
Sadly , this will take a tragic wake up call for things to change. When RREID tried to light his shoes while flying to the USA, THAT set off alarms. TSA needs to act and not react.
Enter the 150-E. In many ways Dr. Armini was spot on. Sadly, TSA was under the influence of OTHERs and dismissed the 150 as "not upto spec."
