ust a follow-up..the reason I'm hopeful for the baseband win at Samsung is they still need CDMA-fall back for for Verizon, Sprint and the other CDMA carriers..


If the world would consist of the United States, yes, indeed. But Samsung can use a modem from Intel for all other countries and one from Qualcomm for the US (or even just for Verizon). I don't think Samsung is so keen about using Qualcomm in their phones since it's their direct competition in SoCs. Sure, they don't like to cooperate with Intel either but its their only choice in the LTE market as far as I understand, so, probably their preferred choice at the moment.

Didn't they intend to replace CDMA at Verizon with Voice over LTE? Not sure if that last advantage from Qualcomm in the modem space is going to stay for long.
