vishal OT re pot legalization...

the surge & shift in the public re legalization was due to come. esp now that the woodstock gen babyboomers (who first mainstreamed drugs) are retiring & have spawned a generation of new parents who are soft on drugs. also it was hard to swallow, even for the hard right, to jail people for pot, wh/ in comparison to harder drugs is much less harmful & more comparable to booze in re to harm.

yet, imo, i think the anti legal dissenters should be respected in one of their key points: the negative impact on kids (esp age 12-17). by greenlighting pot legally, in fairness, a signal could be interpreted by many in the culture, that its basically a relatively benign product. for those over 18, there is much truth in that, if used responsibly. yet, i do agree w/ the anti legal people on this, for teens, its destructive, sometimes highly. few, if any at that age, use it in a measured way. for the vast majority of them, it thwarts their progress. arguably more then booze, b/c they tend to become wake & bakers who use it more frequently. memory loss, concentration etc is effected for habitual users & esp at that developmental brain age wh/ has the corrosive impact of derailing goal planning.

i'm pro legal, but it should be heavily regulated, esp in re to trying to lessen kids getting it. the pro legal pot people would be smart to meet the otherside in the middle on that, or expect cultural backlash to increase. thats why, though the drink may do well, i think mine is better served to focus on the other drinks. i wouldnt be surprised to see thc food and drinks get regulated into a very narrow niche b/c of too easy availability for teens.
