I still believe iPlex launch next week, may be the Monday, May 15 during R&R conference. Here are my educated guesses.

In the 4th Q CC, Philip J Young said this “All of our plans are progressing and we will launch iPlex in the second quarter and we plan to have our sales, marketing and medical teams at the medical conferences during that quarter..

There is only one conference left in May that Insmed will participate. That is the Rodman & Renshaw 3rd Annual Global Healthcare Conference.

In the 1st Q CC (May 8, 2006), Young said that iPlex launch would be in several weeks. However, the closest medical conference is the 88th Annual ENDO Meeting June 24-27, 2006 in Boston. Insmed will also give a presentation at 16th Annual Endocrine Nurses Society (ENS) Symposium on June 24. The other meeting is 45th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology – ESPE, Rotterdam in July (see ibox links). Those two meetings are far more several weeks away and at the very late of 2nd Q.

If Insmed wants to launch iPlex at a medical conference in several weeks, that should be Rodman & Renshaw 3rd Annual Global Healthcare Conference. My other thought is that iPlex launch is really a showcase to investment public not for doctors and patients. Pediatricians and patients do not care too much about “several weeks” two weeks or three weeks or four weeks. Only investors want to know the exact date and want to get in just before the launch. If they see the real launch on DJ news wire, that could be too late to get in at basement bargain price. So, I think R&R conference is a good place to launch iPlex, beside R&R is for investment community and is a good place to talk to investors about the future of iPlex. I also happen to know that iPlex vials have already been done (bottled and labeled). IPlex is ready for shipping. I don’t know why not use R&R show to launch iPlex and to show big boys that Insmed is making money for them (who bough 20M shares at 2). But why Young said “several weeks” in the CC? He didn’t want to hype the stock and wanted to leave some rooms in case of something happens. He may also want to give more time to a few investment firm to get INSM as low as possible. Huge buying just 15-minute before today’s close may reveal some clues.

Of course, I could be wrong. Do I really care “the several weeks”? Not really, but I do want to see iPlex launch next week so I can tell the world….I love you, iPlex!
