Not sure what your point is:

"Yeah, I'll bet that most of the people here also failed to jump onto Larry Ellison's Network Computer in 1996, now look where we are. "

During that same 19-year period, ORCL went from around $4 to around $42 today, while Intel went from around $7 to around $35 in the same period. 10x vs. 5x.

FWIW, I tried to short Netscape around then (I think it was the summer of 1996), found that I was unable to, and then bough $40K worth of Oracle (1000 @ $40, in the then shares). I sold off a few years ago, but still made a nice gain.

Again, not sure what your point is. Was it that people should've jumped into Oracle, or should not have jumped into Oracle? Certainly I did not buy Oracle because of some proposals for a "Network Computer" (nor a Set Top Box, nor anything similar). I bought Oracle then because they were making big strides in penetrating the corporate market.

I don't "get" the obscure repartee of this era.
