Uranium pipes, N. Arizona, question of pollution, Wenrich, letter Oct 22, 2009

Good background for LBSR's North Pipes. I just spoke with Dr. Karen Wenrich, Certified Professional Geologist, author of the letter. She said that the letter is "in the public domain" so no problem making it available.

Dr. Wenrich responds with facts to the following allegations:

1. There was a “massive spill” in Hack Canyon that carried ore rock down to perennial waters of Kanab Creek.

2. The Orphan Mine has been polluting Horn Creek.

3. Although the water table is well below the mine there are perched water tables within the level of the mines.

4. Mining will contaminate the water supply of millions of downstream users.

The letter is written to the District Manager Bureau of Land Management Arizona Strip District Office.

Part of the conclusion is:

Scientific fact, data, and conclusions cannot be determined by popular vote or mass hysteria. I encourage you to set aside the 10s of thousands of nearly identical letters written by the masses, who have little knowledge or concern over the data that have been carefully collected during the past 4 decades, and concentrate on the evidence that has been compiled for you. There has been finger pointing of bias, by those dead set against any mining, directed at those of us who have done research in the northern Arizona area.
