WaterSavr(TM) Technology Helps Drought Conservation Efforts in Texas
12:34p ET January 27, 2015 (Business Wire) Print

FLEXIBLE SOLUTIONS INTERNATIONAL, INC. (AMEX: FSI, FRANKFURT: FXT), is the developer and manufacturer of biodegradable polymers for oil extraction, detergent ingredients and water treatment as well as crop nutrient availability chemistry. Flexible Solutions also manufactures biodegradable and environmentally safe water and energy conservation technologies. Today the Company announces the results from the Wichita Falls WaterSavr(TM) trial, based on the large drinking reservoir, Lake Arrowhead, as determined by both the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). http://www.twdb.texas.gov/publications/reports/technical_notes/doc/TechnicalNote15-01.pdf

The TWDB report confirms preliminary results that were mentioned by Flexible Solutions in its Q3, 2014 conference call. TWDB estimates that the suppressant was effective in reducing evaporation by 15%. Furthermore, after several tests done prior to and during the trial, the TCEQ reports that WaterSavr(TM) is safe and did not cause any concerns with water quality. Based on internal FSI calculations, saving 15% of the of the water during typical evaporation periods in the US Southwest, the cost to buy and spread WaterSavr(TM) on a large reservoir over the evaporative season is less than $180 per acre-foot of water conserved.

Mr. Dan O'Brien, CEO of Flexible Solutions International, states, "The study confirms that by using WaterSavr(TM) and saving 15% of the evaporation from a typical 10,000 acre reservoir during the high evaporation months in this region, WaterSavr(TM) could save 6750 acre feet of water or more. According to the Environmental Protection Agency website, one acre foot supplies three American families for an entire year. Treating a 10,000 acre reservoir with WaterSavr(TM) could provide one year of water for more than 20,000 new families without asking others to reduce consumption. On a large reservoir like Lake Mead, for example, saving 15% using WaterSavr(TM) could provide enough water for over 320,000 households per year."

Mr. David Verlee, Managing Director of FSI's WaterSavr(TM) division, states, "I'm extremely pleased that the Texas Water Development Board has confirmed that the project at Wichita Falls was effective. The 15% saving is well in excess of the 10% minimum goal that Wichita Falls put in place during initial discussions. Success in saving water on such a large scale places the city of Wichita Falls among world leaders in water conservation. We are very thankful to be working with such a great team."
