TDAM doesn't allow margin accounts to purchase stock below $2

I think you're confused about this.

Any stock below $2.00 requires 100% of value... between $2.00 and $4.00 requires a minimum $2.00 for margin, above $4.00 ipci requires 40% margin.

At $2.01 you require $2.00 margin, at $4.00 you require $2.00 for margin, at $4.01 you require 40% or $1.60 margin... at $5.00 it's $2.00 margin, at $10.00 it's $4.00 margin
