E-Waste Systems, Inc. Employees File FLSA Collective Action
Today, Barkan Meizlish filed a collective action in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in Cincinnati against E-Waste Systems, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary, E-Waste Systems Cincinnati, Inc., on behalf of employees who worked without pay for numerous weeks in violation the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Ohio Minimum Fair Wage Standards Act (the Ohio Wage Act). E-Waste is a for-profit company that provides customized e-waste solutions worldwide, with corporate offices located in London, Shanghai, Nevada and Ohio.

Under the FLSA, nonexempt employees must be paid at least the minimum wage for all hours worked, plus overtime pay at a rate of one and one half times the regular rate for hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek. The complaint states that the plaintiffs in the E-Waste lawsuit seek both monetary and injunctive relief, alleging that their employer failed to pay plaintiffs for all hours worked, including overtime compensation for hours worked over 40 in a workweek. The case number is 1:14-cv-00908-TSB.
