Drillers and drilling equipment companies make money on higher priced oil.
Everyone else makes the same % profit. Refiners make the same markup no matter the buy price of the raw oil. Shippers make the same $ per ton per mile. Storage facilities charge the same reguardless of the price of the product. Gas stations make the same profit % per gallon sold.
Who makes the money during FALLING PRICES?
Movie theaters, food producers, electronics stores, restaurants, department stores, home sellers, real estate agents, truck drivers, owner operators, landscapers, building contractors. In effect, everyone makes money.
If you have $50 per week more $ in your pocket after your gasoline is paid for, then you got the equivilent of a $75 weekly raise in your salary. Where are you going to spend that money?
It will roll over into the economy with a multiplier of 4 and is the equivilent of a huge boost in consumer income and spending without a concouring tax increase.
For the last 30 years we have been paying a huge tax to the very folks that want us all to either convert to Islam or die. Now that yoke is off our shoulders.
Be wise with your money.
