I asked my HF buddy, who is worth $50m and he said we need supply and said we don't care who owns what.

Oh, I would not doubt that there may be HF’s out there who need supply, as they will need to cover their short positions if the sp does not begin to fall soon.

And, BTW, generally w/o exception, REAL and LEGITIMATE HF’s never talk shop w/outsiders about what they intend to buy, when, at what price levels, and for how long they intend to hold their stakes.

And the REAL and LEGITIMATE HF’s who may have performed their DD and decided that they intend to open up a true long position in a company (especially a penny stock on the OTC) would NOT buy their shares on the open market and overpay as their own buying would drive up the price artificially. A REAL HF wanting to establish a true long-term position in a company would more often than not approach the company directly and negotiate a private placement or other financing deal that ensures them the supply they are looking for at a discount.

The only reason a HF would bypass this private placement option and be willing to overpay out on the open market is if they are NOT planning to be long-term holders, but instead are trading-centric HF’s that do NOT want to be trapped by a 180-day lockup period on their shares.
