In most cases, the market cap of a publicly traded company will be higher -- often much, much higher -- than the sum total of its assets and liabilities. That's because the value transcends such things as the buildings it owns. Its true value also includes the status of the company's brands and reputation, the abilities of its management, its market position and its growth potential. Those things don't show up on the balance sheet, but they do affect how much people are willing to pay for the company's stock -- and thus its market cap.

This one contract is worth more than the entire market cap, even on the low end:

The term of the extended contract will begin on January 1, 2015 and is expected to generate revenues of $500,000 to $1,000,000 over the life of the extension.
