Iron ore is often found in layers with material that is on top of it called “overburden”. It’s called overburden because it’s found over, or on top of the asset (iron ore) and it’s a “burden” to remove it. We are at “zero-cost” removing and selling the overburden “waist” and exposing the iron ore. This will make it easier and less costly to get to the asset (iron ore) when we want to start producing the iron ore at a later time that more benefits TNGL shareholders. Instead of our waist being a “burden” to remove and put someplace, we are being paid for our waist. And we are exposing, or making our iron ore asset more accessible for easier and more cost efficient future production. While at the same time we are working on producing a much higher grade iron ore that sells for ~$30 more a tone than the lower quality IO we previously produced.

“The net proceeds from the sale of the road base will MORE THAN cover all site costs over this period, resulting in a zero-cost waste removal program and, at the same time, expose more of the ore body in advance of a subsequent production decision.”

Making money removing our waist is a very good thing. This result has exceeded expectations. Tonogold is now producing at a profit and setting ourselves up for lower future costs of production with a much higher grade iron ore that sells for ~$30 more that our previous lower grade IO and with no penalty.
