LOL - why do you assume people carry cash out of the country?

Did Bernie Madoff carry suitcases full of $20 and $50 bills to move his BILLIONS to offshore accounts?

There is this nifty thing called wire transfers and you route the money through a series of accounts offshore that the US has no jurisdiction to obtain account information from. Wire it to Bank A account in Uruguay then from Bank A account split it into several other accounts in Bank B in Cook Islands and Bank C in Nevus, then repeat several cycles with other accounts in other banks in other countries that do not cooperate with the USA and the trail is untraceable.

Or you can put $50 million in cut diamonds you buy in NYC that easily fit in a 35mm film container or a small pill bottle in a carry-on or in a balloon stuffed in your keyster.

It's easy to move large sums abroad so they cannot be traced and the trail goes cold after the first move.

But if you think that people have to move their money in tens and twenties in steamer trunks, well then you might not have $50 million to start with.

Consider one simple example: how can you know that the money that was wired to Panama and then Hungary did not ultimately wind up in an Israeli or Swiss account of Metter or Moskowitz or their nominees or shell coprorations and trusts they set up?

A: you can't. Nobody will ever know.
