This reminds me of the commercial where the little boy is asking his Dad all kinds of questions about how much he pays his broker, why he doesn't get his money back if the broker does a crappy job, etc. The Dad has no answers for any of these questions.

Now there is a new twist. The people working for the brokerage can't even answer an important question from clients who have entrusted their money to them. To me that would be totally unacceptable. If I had an account with Scottrade I would DEMAND to speak to higher ups until I reached someone who would answer my question. I would also threaten to move my account to another brokerage if I could not get an acceptable explanation.

But that's just me.
