“This changes the games of wearables.”

5:21–The final force changing tech, according to Intel: wearables. This past year Intel has rolled with partners the Mica wrist band, SMS Audio headphones and the Edison chips, its computer the size of postage stamp. Krzanich announces its next step in wearables with Curie–a tiny module the size of a button with a Quark SOC, Bluetooth, sensors, and runs for extended periods of time on a coin-sized battery. “It’s meant to be a platform and will deliver wearables in a range of new form factors–rings, bags, pendants and even buttons,” Krzanich said. “This changes the games of wearables.”

5:35–Krzanich is now going into how wearables can help out with visual impairment. Intel is using RealSense tech to help people detect when objects are near with subtle vibrations. Intel is making this technology publicly available.
