FONAR Sells 43rd Stand-Up MRI; First Sale To Neurosurgeons; First Sale from Web Site Visit

MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 2003--FONAR Corporation (NASDAQ-FONR), The MRI Specialist(tm), announced today the sale of its 43rd FONAR Stand-Up(tm) MRI scanner to a multi-specialty neuroscience group in the Mid-South. It is FONAR's first sale of a Stand-Up(tm) MRI to neurosurgeons. The Stand-Up(tm) MRI is an Upright(tm) imaging system by FONAR.

A spokesman for the group explained why they decided to purchase the Stand-Up(tm) MRI: "We are impressed with the advanced technology of the FONAR Stand-Up(tm) MRI. The Stand-Up(tm) MRI is an ideal tool for the spine neurosurgeon. Its ability to view anatomy with patients in weight-bearing positions allows us to detect certain pathologies that could be inaccurately accessed or altogether hidden when patients are lying down. The more accurate and complete the MRI exam, the better the surgical plan and, therefore, the better the surgical result."
