I think the fact that Japan's cell phones have the capacity to read barcodes and barcode scanning is now #1 (27% use their cell phones for barcode scanning as referenced in one of my earlier posts) for usage in Japan that means that there are camera's on the market that have this capability. Also if you search you can find blogs, articles, on the 1.3 megapixel camera phones that are being put out by the makers now. They might be high priced but with popularity and technology advances that price will come down.
