Ebola Patient Zero 1 yr old bats tree

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/30/health/how-ebola-roared-back.html?emc=edit_th_20141230&nl=todaysheadlines&nlid=16092731

NYT long story Tuesday about how the Ebola spread and reasons for not having stopped it early on.

Story mentions the 1 year old boy believed to be Patient Zero. Elsewhere are stories he & others likely got it from playing in a nearby dead tree with lots of bats. Playing in and around the place they came into contact with droppings and all the rest.
Bats are eaten a lot but not believed to be source in this case.
Unusual for bats to spread Ebola amongst themselves tho they can. But the tree burned down and all the bat group flew out to settle nearby like in roofs of nearby homes. Bats adapt.
Destroying bats can be counterproductive since they eat tons of mosquitoes & bugs. Better to find a human cure fast.

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.
