I too was pondering that.

I think it ill advised at this time. It could well backfire.
I think GTE have to respond and then lets see what their defence is.
If they cannot prove good faith in this then it will come down on them hard.

I think, as the announcment was vetted by the exchange (the market hold prior to the announcment) there could well be an SEC investigation anyway.
