Strong Dollar Bad? Good summary of the bull and bear cases for the market. The only thing I didn't understand is that part about "we are not helping our neighbors with a very strong dollar."

I thought we actually were helping them-- because every nation seems to want a somewhat weak currency, to make their exports more competitive. A race to the bottom is what some writers call it. And since we have a trade deficit rather than a surplus, it's easier for us to have the strongest currency. Because it's not going to hurt our exports, because we hardly have any. Almost nothing I buy ever says Made in the USA.

Would you mind explaining the ways in which a strong dollar hurts other nations? Thanks.
