Largest Theater Chains Won't Show Sony Film 'The Interview'
The largest theater chains in the U.S. have decided not to play Sony Pictures' controversial comedy "The Interview" on its planned Dec. 25 opening, said two people with knowledge of the matter.
The chains, including Regal Entertainment Group, AMC Entertainment Holdings, Cinemark Holdings and Carmike Cinemas, won't play the film until the conclusion of federal authorities' investigation into the three-week-old cyberattack on Sony Pictures and subsequent terrorist threats, one of the people said. The four chains control more than 18,000 of North America's approximately 40,000 movie screens.
