I agree with you about the rs being unlikely. You're right in pointing out why it doesn't make sense at these levels. The SS is a problem because ppl are likely to wait on the sidelines for fear of being diluted.

In any case, for longer-term holders (2-3) years it's an opportunity for cheap shares.
