14 December 2014: <br> <br> Mental health patients will be helped back in to work with an extra £12 million funding from the Government. <br> <br> New approaches will be tested in four pilot areas across the country to help those with mental health conditions find and stay in employment. <br> <br> Employment advisers and GPs will receive training to identify mental health issues and recognise the role of work in improving mental health. <br> <br> An effort will be made to offer "bespoke action plans" and get existing local support services better co-ordinated. <br> <br> Nearly half (46%) of people claiming Employment and Support Allowance have mental health conditions. <br> <br> Mental illness is estimated to cost taxpayers and businesses £105 billion a year in health and police services, welfare benefits and sickness absence. <br> <br> Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said: "It is shocking to think that mental health is now the leading cause of illness in the workplace. <br> <br> "It's even more shocking that many of the people suffering are simply not getting the support they need. <br> <br> <a href="http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/%C2%A312m-to-help-mental-health-patients/ar-BBgMY8" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer ugc" target="_blank">http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/%C2%A312m-to-help-mental-health-patients/ar-BBgMY8</a>
