Hi Ayock, that's a great article. Its very well written. Everyone should read it.

But let's take his very effective and easy-to-relate-to bicyclist metaphor one step further.

Let's pretend that 10% of all bicyclists smash 1 car window per week as they're biking down the street. What tends to happen is car drivers will begin to treat all bicyclists as potential car window smashers. Is this fair to the 90% of the bicyclists who are model bicycling citizens ? Of course not. But sadly the behavior of the bad 10% ruins it for the other 90%.

Another variation of this -- what if car driving taxpayers spent billions of dollars to build bike lanes on the roads and 10% of the bicyclists still refused to use them ? And when I say refused, I mean to the point where they are obstructing car traffic flow and potentially causing accidents. And when a bicyclist is hurt by a car, bicyclists keep insisting its because the car drivers haven't built enough bike lanes and car drivers are anti-bicyclist. Its never because the biker was cutting in front of cars in a dangerous manner.
