Please join Vivian Lee in welcoming philanthropist, surgeon and entrepreneur Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong to the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics TODAY at 10 a.m.

Dr. Soon-Shiong will present to the University of Utah a $12 million gift to launch the Heritage 1K Project to sequence 1,000 whole genomes.

The distinguished history of our basic and clinical scientists in making genetic discoveries, the power of the Utah Population Database to facilitate pedigree genetics, and the vision of the Utah Genome Project to bring genomics into clinical practice, have persuaded Dr. Soon-Shiong that the University of Utah is an ideal place in which to invest in genomic science. This gift is a celebration of the tremendous research that goes on in this building, and we'd love for you to join us today.

What: Heritage 1K Project Launch and Reception

Where: Eccles Institute of Human Genetics Auditorium, followed by reception in EIHG Atrium
