This pretty much describes my approach.

I never buy unless I'm comfortable holding for the long term, but plan on establishing a trading range. I often chug along making modest profits I roll right back in for more shares for years. When the project starts to get exciting, I'm in a good position to benefit.

It hurts to have your capital tied up, but I've ultimately been unable to do consistently better with another approach.
