Pillar of the first phase of the second-generation biofuel production project called Syndièse, the technology platform Syndièse - BtS was inaugurated Monday, October 6, 2014 at Bure-Saudron by the CEA Chairman, Bernard Bigot, in the presence of Mr. Christian Namy, President of the General Council of the Meuse and GIP Meuse Objective and Bruno Sido, Chairman of the General Council of Haute-Marne and GIP Haute-Marne.

Syndièse The program aims to build a pre-industrial demonstrator biofuels 2nd generation thermochemical pre-industrial size (10 tons of biomass per hour). The challenge is to integrate a complete chain processes at a single site to industrial size and validate the economic viability of this sector which lignocellulosic resource does not compete with human food.

As part of the development of this demonstrator, CEA is mobilized to develop an innovative technology for conversion of biomass into synthesis gas (BtS). This project, known Syndièse, in collaboration with the Air Liquide Group, is essential to the achievement of the future demonstrator that will manufacture the second generation biofuel.

So as part of the first phase of project implementation Syndièse BtS (Biomass to Syngas), the technology platform of biomass pretreatment was built on the site at Bure CEA-Saudron and was inaugurated October 6, 2014 . It will be accessible to other academic and industrial players involved in the development of equipment, and more generally to methods for pretreatment and conversion of biomass. It is in this context also qu'interviennent teams of the Regional Platform for Technology Transfer CEA-Tech Lorraine. The CEA site location of the platform currently has thirty hectares and employs three experts in charge of the proper functioning of the system.

This project is part of the economic support of the laboratory of ANDRA provided by law of 28 June 2006 and has reaffirmed the support of the state, local and regional authorities and local actors.
