who cares? If one was wise they would of sold their AMD at 80 presplit then shorted it to 3. $20K invested would of turned into 40K (bought @40 sold @80)), then buying the 1000 shares and taking (shorting) it to 3 would of been another $37K-total $57,000.
Now I don't know what kind of investing you do but I am in between this totally winning scenario and the losing scenario
you depict if one bought and held. There are lots of losers out there with the market situation we have been in for the last few years but please give us a better understanding on your part of what we are all doing with this investing deal.
Many companies have lost value so do not single out AMD in this way, maybe you need to short some more. Actually in my experience the market has more of an affinity to go down and lose money than to rise-why? Because people want their money out eventually to spend and have fun with, so actually shorting is probably more of a winning short term play if you have the guts. Peter Lynch has said that the people who do the best in the market are those that have the stomach to take it and those who don't lose sleep at night over it.

If bought today AMD will be up eventually to the teens, then back down to the 5's. Enjoy the ride-I do.
