This article I think answers what your mentioning! 4K is ever so fastly growing quicker then HD ever did! NTEK is in the mix!

Because HD digital substructure and equipment is already in place, UHD doesn't have to re-invent the wheel because it's only a resolution update and not a major paradigm shift like analog to digital, where almost all substructure and equipment had to be changed over. Not even close. Even all TV's are already digital and lcd, not crt.

Probably more money is being spent advertising 4K than any outlay for equipment upgrading and retooling.
