Apparently later - at some point - we will see he old AAMRQ "shares" removed and deemed worthless. At that point, whatever we paid for them, minus the remaining value, will be the tax loss to offset the distribution gains. That's why they are still there - they have not yet been deemed worthless in the eyes of the IRS.
